Ein Criw Cymraeg
Our Criw Cymraeg is made up of representatives of pupils from Year 2 through to Year 6. They meet during our Epic Afternoons to discuss and develop the Siarter Iaith across the school. They prepare for our whole school weekly Welsh assemblies, plan for Welsh yard games and discuss how to celebrate any special days/events that may be coming up in our calendar.
Beth ydyn ni’n ei wneud? / What do we do?
As Criw Cymraeg, we have the following roles:
- Promote a Welsh ethos in by encouraging learners to speak Welsh by giving out Siaradwyr yr Wythnos and Tocyn Iaiths rewards.
- Implement Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus, display and gather evidence to achieve our school targets.
- Hold weekly Welsh assemblies.
- Support Welsh games on the yard.
Gwasanaethau Cymraeg / Welsh assemblies
In our Welsh assemblies, we announce the Patrwm yr Wythnos and award the Siaradwyr yr Wythnos certificates. We choose Welsh music for the children to listen to as they enter and leave the hall. We learn and sing Welsh songs and read Welsh stories. We also use this time to announce any upcoming special days/ events in our Welsh calendar and update the school on what we have been doing for our Siarter Iaith targets.
Amcan / Objective
The simple objective of the Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus is to provide a clear framework, which can be used to promote and increase the use of Welsh by children in a whole school context. In a nutshell, the Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus’ main aim is to promote a strong Welsh ethos in schools and to provide a range of enriching activities that propel the children to enjoy learning Welsh.
